Day 5 - Tues 14 Sept - Montmarte/Sacre Couer

We are having the best time. During breakfast a kind American gave us her bus tickets for on/off around Paris. We spent most of the day touring the most famous landmarks including; Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, Invalides, Trocadoro, Louvre, etc. Rushed back to the hotel for our meet and greet with our Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Trocadero

Shortly after, those who were interested, took the bus to Mont Marte where we enjoyed crepes for tea with our many, new friends from America, Canada, New Zealand and Melbourne. A lovely mix of people with whom we already feel very comfortable.

Montmatre was alive with vibrant people and the atmosphere was festive. I lost count of the amount of artists who wanted to paint my portrait! One even thought I looked like his old girlfriend - not sure if he was meaning 'old' or 'previous'!!  And, yes Sue, I did have the gypsies try the ring trick on me - but I was prepared thanks to your warning.

We visited Sacre Couer while the nuns were singing and created a very moving environment - felt like we were slipping back into time. Travelled back past the Moulin Rouge all lit in red and through the red light district of Paris. We waited out on the street to capture the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower on the stroke of 9pm - it was very beautiful. Early rise tomorrow and we are heading for Lyon via Beaune.
